Last month, we were at The Bluecoat for the gorgeous wedding of Holly and Matt. The Bluecoat in Liverpool City Centre was built in 1716-17 as a boarding school. It’s the oldest surviving building in central Liverpool, England, and is an awesome, picturesque Liverpool wedding venue.
Wedding Preparations
We started the day in their beautiful Victorian terrace in Mossley Hill. Bride Holly wore a lace and tulle tea length wedding dress by True Bride’s Brighton Belle collection. She paired it with the most amazing sparkly gold Irregular Choice shoes. Her super glossy long hair was styled in a gorgeous half updo with fresh flowers by Bobbers in Allerton, while her make up was by Hannah Carson from The Wedding House. Holly’s three bridesmaids wore light grey pink and sage green, they co-ordinated beautifully in these different, muted colours.
The Wedding Day
The weather was glorious. Blue skies and beautiful sunshine. The happy couple had their wedding ceremony in the Sandon room at The Bluecoat which opens up onto a little courtyard. This room is a lovely bright room in white that makes for a perfect neutral palette for whatever you choose for your wedding colour scheme.
Bluecoat Wedding Drinks Reception
After the wedding ceremony, the guests all went outside to enjoy the sunshine in the courtyard.
Couple Portraits
The Bluecoat is also the Centre for Contemporary Arts in Liverpool. There’s often interesting artwork around that can be used in wedding photos. As we whisked Holly & Matt off for some portraits, we made the most of The Umbrella Project outside the gates. It features lots of multicoloured umbrellas hanging from the sky. We love finding interesting portrait backdrops for our wedding couples! It’s a fantastic sight to see, devised and curated by the ADHD Foundation.
Wedding Reception Styling at The Bluecoat
After some group shots in the courtyard of The Bluecoat, we then went up to the Upstairs Bistro at The Bluecoat for the evening reception. The couple had arranged lots of cool styling details for the evening reception space, including some gorgeous coloured, handmade bunting.
Their awesome guest book was a box of Roald Dahl postcards and a box of Disney Pixar postcards for guests to write their messages to the couple. Two of our faves! There were also lots of little personal touches around the whole room, looking awesome with bunting and strings of fairy lights! They also had an Instax photo booth set up with a picture frame and pegs for guests to pop their photo on.
The flowers were from the Flower House, Irby in the Wirral and were a gorgeous mix of soft colours, giving that lovely, natural, meadowy feel. There was a massive bouquet for Bride Holly! Blousey pink peonies, roses, sweet william, lisianthus and waxflower featured in the bride’s bouquet. The same flowers featured in the table decor and in the bridesmaid’s bouquets. We loved the table names too in the wedding breakfast room, which were all named after some of the best clubs, bars and pubs in Liverpool.
